Ages 1 - 3 years

A Montessori Toddler Community is for children ages 1 - 3 years old. The Montessori toddler program provides young children the experience of socializing and learning within a small group of similar aged peers.  Toddlers in the Montessori environment are offered opportunities for exploration, discovery and learning based on their individual developmental needs.

The furniture and materials in the Montessori Toddler environment are appropriately sized and ordered to help the young toddler develop concentration, coordination and independence.  The toddler becomes very comfortable and content within the environment since it is created just for him.  Toddlers who experience a Montessori Toddler Environment gain self-help skills, high levels of self-confidence and self-esteem, a feeling of competence and control and truly fall in love with learning.  When these skills are developed at such a young age the child is prepared to be successful in all future social and learning environments.

Ages 3 - 6 years

Each age and stage of development has its own needs and abilities. From three to six years old, children have unique mental and physical capacities that aid them in becoming largely physically independent. During the formative years, from birth through age six children have a mind that is equipped to take in all aspects of the world around them without fatigue. Dr. Montessori called this the Absorbent Mind and it is part of why a Montessori education is so important for the very young child. Our environment offers children of this age opportunities to work on the  activities that the Absorbent Mind needs in order to make sense of the world and thus reach the goal of physical independence.

Ages 6 - 12 years

As the child grows and changes, so does the Montessori classroom for the elementary aged child. The Montessori  elementary program provides a stimulating prepared environment to meet the needs of children 6-12 years old. Dr. Montessori saw that the children of this age now have their own capacities of imagination and abstraction. They are motivated to find out why the world is the way it is, why the rules around them are in place, where they and the entirety of the universe came from. They are not satisfied with mere facts and labels but are driven to find explanations and causality for their experiences. A Montessori education for the elementary capitalizes on these interests while also meeting the requirements traditionally expected for this age in terms of academics.
